What is a digester? Here are some definitions.

Noun
  1. One who, or that which, digests.
  2. (dated) A medicine or food that aids digestion, or strengthens digestive power.
  3. A strong closed vessel in which bones or other substances may be subjected, usually in water or other liquid, to a temperature above that of boiling, in order to soften them.

In 1761 he proceeded to experiment on the force of steam by means of a small Papin's digester and a syringe.
